Trinity Wireless Solutions was founded in early 2022 by Rob Koch, a wireless technology expert with experience spanning the defense and commercial wireless industry at companies large and small. TWS seeks to serve our customers, community, and nation in the area of wireless technology research and development.

Every development project, large or small, has inherent risk. The complexity of wireless technology adds additional risk. Our engineers have experience with highly customized embedded systems, large commercial and industrial infrastructure, and from legacy AM/FM analog voice all the way to 5G packet data network systems.

Rob Koch

Owner & CTO

Rob has been involved with wireless systems his entire life. The son and grandson of career civil servants in land mobile radio and telecommunications, he served in the US Navy, maintaining communications, navigation and radar systems, rose to the rank of First Class Petty Officer, was deployed overseas, and was decorated for outstanding job performance. He completed his education at UC San Diego, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and earned a Master of Engineering degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering also at UCSD. Rob started his engineering career in the defense industry, developing high performance RF transceivers and free space optical communications systems. He went on to lead several projects developing new radio technologies through to production, and held customer-facing roles with full responsibility for technical demonstration and presentation. He continued in technical leadership at a Fortune 100 company in a role responsible for new product introduction and technical presentation to strategic accounts, and most recently held an executive role for a major supplier of confined space communications systems including analog and digital distributed antenna systems. Rob has deep theoretical and practical knowledge of modern wireless communications including 4G and 5G systems.

Bob Koch

Public Safety Wireless Engineer

Bob is a telecommunications professional with 42 years of experience in wired and wireless public safety communications, including several technical leadership roles at the County of Los Angeles Department of Internal Services. He was directly engaged with the procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of some of the largest public safety communications systems in the world. He has extensive knowledge of public safety voice communications standards including legacy analog, digital, APCO P25 Phase I and II, EDACS, and Motorola simulcast. Bob holds an FCC commercial license and FAA credentials on NDB transmitters, and has 20 years of classroom instruction experience as a credentialed educator in electronics and wireless technology. He is a longtime member of APCO and the California Public Radio Association.

Will Hoie

Chief Software Architect

Will has spent more than two decades building mission-critical real-time embedded systems. As Chief Software Architect at Trinity Wireless Solutions, he leads software and firmware development across the company's wireless products, directing technical decisions from the embedded layer through operator-facing tools. Since joining in 2024, he has delivered all firmware and interface software for Trinity's products, handling everything from microprocessor firmware bring-up through desktop control application software. Before Trinity, Will architected secure, Yocto-based embedded Linux platforms at iRobot across Qualcomm, Rockchip, and MediaTek silicon, and at Cubic Defense implemented software-defined radios running embedded Linux and built safety-critical firmware for fielded mesh-networked systems. A co-inventor on U.S. Patent 6,978,774 and a former technical expert witness in 4G LTE patent litigation, Will holds a B.A. in Computer Science from the University of San Diego.

Evelyn Koch

Operations & Finance Administrator

Evelyn joined Trinity Wireless Solutions in March 2024 and supports internal operations, helping maintain efficient and organized business processes. She is pursuing a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Leadership.
